Your Idea Of Relaxation
Some people will soon be having a holiday break and are planning to spend time unwinding after Christmas. I saw the words, 'Sunday a day at the beach relaxing with a book,' painted on a wall when I was visiting a beach side suburb recently. This made me think about different things individuals may find relaxing.

Because we are all individuals, an activity one person finds relaxing another will not. Some will relish the thought of a day at the beach with a book but this will not appeal to others.
Some beach goers would find it relaxing to lie in the shade of a big umbrella but they don't enjoy reading. They would rather doze or chat to a friend as their way of relaxing. Some are happy watching other people swim and children play on the beach. Others would rather visit a quiet beach away from the suburbs where they may have the opportunity to watch wildlife like sea lions and pelicans.
There are people who love spending time at the beach but they want to be
doing something active like swimming, surfing, sail boarding or boating. Fishing is an activity many find relaxing. There can be hours of simply holding the fishing rod but enthusiasts don't find this boring.
Avid readers may prefer to sit in a recliner or out in their garden to read a book. Their preferred spot for reading may not be the beach.
Watching sport on television is the most relaxing way of spending a day for some people. Others who relax in front of television would rather watch a couple of movies or catch up on a series. Some would choose a drama and others a comedy.
Hobbies such as oil painting, pottery, quilting, sewing, sculpture or photography are forms of relaxation. Colouring in for adults has become popular but holds no interest for some individuals who consider it boring.
Gardening can be relaxing after a week in the office but there are people who consider it a chore, something that must be done. These people may pay someone to maintain the garden. Alternatively, they do what
has to be done and then find another activity for their relaxation. People who do love gardening are happy to spend much of their spare time tending their flowers and vegetables.
Whether you want to spend a day at the beach with a book or would rather be on the golf course, it is important for your health to regularly spend time doing something you find relaxing. Relaxation reduces stress, helps you sleep better and reduces the likelihood of getting sick. It also helps your memory and makes you happier. What do
you do as your relaxation?
