You Snooze You Lose

I recently upgraded my iphone, and was pleasantly surprised to see that there was a new feature on my alarm clock.

Even though we already have the option on an iphone to set numerous alarms, which I think is great, this new feature allows you to choose snooze and it doesn't just go off once but continues to off again in a timely manner.

I know you are probably thinking but this is what all snooze buttons do. This one is different somehow though. I think it's the amount of time it allows you to snooze. It's perfect. I have found that it gives me just about the right amount of extra sleep I feel I need. Normally I'd press cancel on the snooze way too early and then sleep on through, waking in fright at the time.

The problem with snoozing, though is that you can keep choosing to snooze. And I do. This new feature has actually been quite bad for me. I enjoy it, but I'm losing time and waking up late yet again.

This got me to thinking about just how much we depend on technology these days and how it has made us somewhat lazy.

I should just get up when I'm supposed to. The best thing to do would be to go to bed early, and then rise and shine early.

So, no more snoozing for me, I've decided. Instead I am going to focus on getting to bed at a decent hour and getting enough sleep. My body obviously needs it. I'm going to listen to my natural body clock, rather than depending on my iphone.

As the old saying goes you snooze, you lose.
