Any excuse needed to stop and smell the roses for some quality you time is essential

That's right, you time is all about your downtime - as well as your leisure time. Well done, we're nearly there with the Self Avenue Happiness Project. There are two more articles to go in this 12-part happiness series. If you need to catch up on any of the other nine articles in sequence, please do so here:

Self Avenue Happiness Project: Parts 1 to 9

Now comes a delicious time to allow yourself to explore. What leisure activities make you happy? This could include any of the following:

  • Travelling
  • Eating Out
  • Swimming
  • Watching a movie/going to the theatre
  • Listening to music

  • What do you do to relax? How often are you in your personal flow, spending more time on yourself?

Write your answers down. This helps you reflect, focus and review. Hobbies and leisure activities boost your mood and energy levels. Such also leaves you open to receiving more abundance and opportunities in your awesome life.

Now think about your normal week. How much of this time do you spend on you? Is it enough?

If you're not spending enough time on you, what can you do to change this?

Create a bucket list of all the things you can do to relax yourself, and aim to do as many of these activities as possible in your week, without interfering with your schedule too much.

Yes, when you're also engaged in work that you absolutely love - this is also quality you time in itself when you don't stress yourself out in the process.

Another great exercise in being really vigilant about giving yourself some more you time is to plan two me days a fortnight. More if you can do it. Two days where you can just be you. To spend time with yourself with no technology. That's right, no smart phones. Plan to spend some of this time in nature, or all of it if you choose. Reflect on how you're feeling at the end of each of these fortnightly cycles, and you will definitely be and feel a lot happier. If there were any challenges along the way, what would you do differently on your next two day me time entourage?

Some other suggestions on giving yourself some you time include, yet are not limited to the following:

  • Taking a long, hot bath. With candles is supreme.
  • Time with a pet.
  • Go bushwalking.
  • Create something artistic.
  • Wander through the markets.
  • Keep a weekend free for just you.
