Staying Healthy During Office Hours
Have you ever felt tired after a long day at work? Do you feel like you consume a lot of unhealthy food?
Just because your work requires you to be at a desk for long periods of time doesn't mean you can’t also stay healthy and happy. Incorporate these simple habits into your lifestyle and enjoy your work life.
Staying Healthy at work is easy
Have Breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and therefore it’s important not to skip it. A nutritious breakfast can provide you with the energy you need to get through the morning, and it will stop you from consuming unhealthy snacks.
Reduce sugar and sweetened foods
They might be tasty, but they don’t satisfy you for long. Having sweet foods/beverages early in the day can leave you feeling tired and drained out.
Bring home-made lunches
When possible, try to prepare lunches from home as meals from restaurants are often in large proportions and have a high calorie content.
Drink lots of water
It’s a good idea to keep a water bottle near you at all times. Keeping yourself hydrated is very important, and this can prevent drowsiness and keep you from consuming other unhealthy beverages such as tea or soda.
Be on the move
If your job requires you to sit at the desk for long periods of time; it is important that you take any opportunity to move around. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Pair up with a work colleague and go for short walks during breaks. If possible, try to cycle or walk to work.
Get enough sleep
Getting a solid night’s sleep can help you feel refreshed and ready to face the day. You will be more alert and less likely to crave caffeine.
