Mad Psychology In The Workplace How Complaints Can Make or Break
One of the most applied area of Psychology is in business. It is where you meet a lot of people of various kind. Especially when it comes to motivation, it comes out in the open. One major representation of which is the company’s core values, vison and mission. In this case, the easiest to read will be people.
Psychological strip teasing is when people share personal information too early for comfort’s sake. When meeting smart people, not to mention the most manipulative ones, the “poker rule” is very much applicable. Lessen expression as much as possible, some might use it against you, or use it to win over something.
This is mad psychology. When you talk too much with your emotion as highlight, your motivation comes out of the picture. In that way, people will have an idea of what your needs are, and when that happens they will know which buttons to push. What annoys you and what pleases you will give out so much.
An example is when a resigned employee of startup company approached and talked this way, “I have told the management that I have experienced being treated like a lowly being, bossed around to clean the place, paid with five thousand while I had a driver way back in the 90's, they just cannot provide that level of convenience. I quit early, because my ideas aren’t being credited enough; the boss wouldn’t even listen.”
Now a mad employer would say in mind,
“to annoy that employee, I will ignore her, boss her around, and I won’t give her the possibility of getting shares in the company. I want her to quit because that person complains a lot, and this is my way of making a way for him or her voluntarily quit, how is that? I know buttons because she told me where it hurts.”
We cannot blame the employer, how the employee reacted to inconveniences showed what she or he should have signed up for. The employee clearly signed up for a high paying job, a company that will provide the best benefits such as giving off a company car or being assisted by a driver, with the need for power in making decisions. This cannot be done in a startup where there are still few employees.
While when you are an Industrial Psychologist long held complaints can turn up during
exit interviews. It is a rich source of information that can help a company think of ways on how to improve and develop. All the complaints may give us scenarios such as having a supervisor who relays instructions vaguely most of the time, corruption in the accounting department, anger management issues, lack of incentives, and a lot more. However with all confidentiality, Human Resource Professionals are obliged to be lawful in their duties as keeper of company and employee secrets.
