Cost or Worth
Worth is defined when you are broke. No money, so you have to choose food over a packet of cigarettes.
In the movie,
Confessions of a Shoppaholic, Luke said, “...cost is different from worth...” when Rebecca begged a hotdog vendor to lend her some money for her to buy a scarf for an interview, and because Luke is bothered by the delay of his order, he gave Rebecca some money.
To save money, and save yourself from debt, you need to...
Carefully distinguish your wants from your needs
You want Prada, but you only need clothes. You can find quality and trendy clothing for a lower cost. Just go and look out there.
Know what you need most at the moment
This is the reason why mothers stay in the kitchen at night to check out what’s lacking, and those items have to be bought first. This also saves time trying to remember things at the grocery store.
Keep track of your expenses
Make a list of money going out of your pocket, and compare it against the money you make. This move is good for future plans for a vacation, or for those things you would want to have in the future.
Make an expense gauge
Make yourself a monthly expense limit. This is also applicable for a day. If you’re a full time student, think about the minimum amount of money that an employee could earn in a day. Tell yourself that you cannot spend like an employee, because you do not earn money.
These are simple ways to save. Alertness is the key. Do not spend your money for what you want at the moment.
Money runs like the old adage, “good things come to those who wait.”
