You probably are in a situation where you do not see yourself in for the rest of your work life. Just like in a relationship, time heals and time kills.
The clock just ticks at home, but if you hold it in control and be your own clock, nothing could go wrong.
Here are the best ways to kill your career.
1. Be complacent.
Go mainstream. Do not push yourself to much. Just think that where you are right now, reflect everything you can do because you have nothing more! Quite ridiculous to here, but that is complacency.
Instead of doing your job, talk about things that do not concern your workplace, like how to get your boss to ask you out on a date because like all women, you find him attractive. Instead of how to reach company goals, talk about celebrities' lives. You don't want to do that all day while compromising your work speed and quality; worst, your integrity, do you? It is just a matter of etiquette, you are paid not to gossip. When people spread gossips, be a dead-ender. Mixing unprofessional habits will weaken your hard earned integrity.
3. Isolate yourself.
Very easy, just do your job as you know it. Remember not to consult anybody for further improvement. In this way, you will not be able to expand your network, and if time comes that you will leave the company, nobody knows how you do your job, and the quality which you seem to adhere to will be limited to few people knowing. Also, so that when you need help from fellow professionals, you won't get the best, because you did not get to establish rapport to make you seem worthy of helping. You will be just one person who only knows someone when you need help.
