The Turn Around

It's all in your mindset, your attitude

There was a plan made on New Years Eve, just as the clock struck twelve, that this year, 2014, was going to be our year. My partner and I agreed that we would work hard, we would change our lives around, and we would do whatever we had to do in order to achieve this.

It is now the 24th day of the first month of the year, and already, our lives are changing. I have started my own cleaning business, which was a massive fluke, but it is starting to pull some real money in. Nothing major, but we now have money left over at the end of the week plus a small amount for savings.

It all came about because I decided that cleaning was something I was both good at and was an easy way to make some money. I looked around online for people advertising for a house cleaner, then I made my own ad, and within two weeks, I had three clients - one of whom I spend two hours a day, five days a week, cleaning for. And it just keeps growing.

He, my darling partner, is waiting to start a course next month that will get him into installing this new building product that is fairly new, but already highly recognized, in Victoria. Sure, it isn't what he wants to do, but within six months of doing that, he will be promoted to a sales agent, making money by giving people their dream homes...and that is right up his alley.

Things in our life are turning around, and you know how? By simply taking a chance, by thinking outside the box, by using the power of the internet, by using the good old saying "it isn't what you know, it's who you know", and by having the sheer determination to try anything.

Anyone and everyone can make a change in their lives, it doesn't have to be as big as ours. You just have to want to do it. You want that promotion? Go work your arse off to get it. You want to buy your own home? Work hard and save for the deposit. Or how about expanding your family? Do it like rabbits and hope for the best.

Whatever it is you want to do, it's achievable. I was in a rut for a bit over six months, and it was hard on all aspects of my life - my relationships with my family members, my friendships, my health, my eating habits, my schooling, my sleep, my love life...so I took a stand and worked even harder than I was in order to change the direction my life was headed.

The best part of it all is, though, is that I can look back now, and see the moment when things changed. I can see the turn around, and my god, is it beautiful.

I love this- it is exactly what I needed to hear right now! My partner and I are going through big life changes at the moment after I floundered a bit last year so I can totally relate. Now he is in a new career and I am starting one too and it is exciting, hard work but infinitely worth it. Thanks for writing such a great article and good luck to the both of you :)
