It was back in 2006 that Rhonda Byrne decided to release a film called The Secret - specifically relating to how people can apply the 'law of attraction' to manifest more abundance and prosperity into their life.

The film quickly turned into books, audio and DVD products. The inspiration for Rhonda to create The Secret came on the back of being given a book by her daughter - a classic called The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D Wattles.

There are some people who have manifested miracles in their life by learning and applying 'The Secret' - including yours truly. However, on the other hand - there are those individuals who decided to sue the producers of The Secret, because they said they 'visualised' their good to arrive - yet these desires did not come to pass for these people in such circumstances and situations.

How do you attract more abundance and prosperity in your world through the law of attraction? Do we simply ask for it? Good old fashioned hard work? Or a combination of 'putting it out there' - in tandem with doing whatever it takes to succeed?

An interesting question indeed. On one end The Secret does work, because our thoughts do turn into real events - whether wanted or unwanted. The Law of Attraction is all about feeling good. Yet, there is a missing element to The Secret: ACTION. That's right - you can't just sit on top a mountain top and meditate to your hearts content for your ideal home (or any other form of abundance) to just land on your lap. You need to get off your butt and work for it. We are designed to serve other people through our gifts and talents through value, and then we can work on manifesting our desires. Visualising your good is not enough. Abundance comes through hard work, and then the rewards are reaped. Work with the universe, and the universe will work with you.
Like you, I think visualisation is only stage one. You have to be somewhere in your life where you can:

1 recognise opportunity
2 have nous to 'see' the steps to achieve it
3 have the energy and stamina to see it through

Because we are all at different stages, through all sorts of circumstance and environment, we see things and interpret them in different ways.

My opinion :)
I totally agree with you both. Visualisation and a plan of action is also needed. The motivation needs to be there too and we need the tools and opportunities and the drive to go ahead and take the steps needed to achieve the success or the thing we long for. People often wait for a miracle that never comes or expect things to happen now. They need to decide on where, what, why and how and then make that first step. It won't happen overnight, it's a journey but still a worthwhile one! :)
