Your life is made up of moments that don’t string together. Some are big, others are small, but the ones that matter are the ones you deem to be the shapers of your life. Some would say that your life is made up of people; people who affect you and who matter to you, yet people come and go. The moments stay forever.

In believing this, I try and appreciate all the moments I can such as cooking dinner for my household; a great phone conversation with my best friend; bubbles; as well as playing with my little cousins to name.

My favourite moments though, are the ones that happen in the car.

They are always just little moments. They're small fragments of time that bury themselves deep into my core, for me to always hold onto.

Like when my partner is driving along, and suddenly a song comes on the radio that he loves. He turns it up really loud, puts the windows down, and basically serenades me. It’s more than that though. I know he’s singing for himself, singing to me because I’m his captive audience who marvels in almost everything he does. Yet when he lets himself be so completely unconscious like that, the day seems brighter...even when it’s raining. I always look around and see if other people can see him, and can be blessed by the wonderful-ness that is this man; singing at the top of his lungs, just so that he can feel enjoyment and music in his veins.

Or when I’m meeting my best friend, and he starts walking towards me. That initial glee of being near someone again, of who I don’t need to explain everything to because he knows it all by the look on my face. It feels like coming home to a warm bed after getting caught in the rain.

Or even something as simple as having a glass of wine in the bath on a Friday night with a good book. Those perfect moments of calm and serenity.

If you look back through your life, you will see that, although certain people stand out, it’s the moments that give your life meaning.

So, I’m going to pour another glass of wine, turn the heat up in the bath, and go back to the next chapter or three of my book.

Cheers to the little things.
