One day I was out exploring when I came across a secondhand shop called
Some Days Are Diamonds. I liked the sentiment so I took a photo of the sign. What makes a day special? What makes a day a diamond?
Sometimes you receive good news which makes the day a diamond. Receiving the all clear after a health scare or a routine test turns the day into a diamond. Hearing that a loved one has come through surgery successfully makes your heart soar.
Perhaps you have been trying to get pregnant for some time and you learn you have been successful. Your day has become very special with the great news which you can't wait to share with those closest to you.
Getting your results after a semester or year of studying hard and finding you have passed is great news. It is even better if your results are outstanding.
Being asked if you want to move in with someone you love is exciting. A marriage proposal (if your feelings are reciprocal) is very special.
Good news or proposals can turn a day into a diamond. Anniversaries of positive events and celebrations with family and friends certainly can.
Hopefully you look back at your wedding day, if you choose to go down that path, as a diamond.
Even though it can be very stressful, for most women giving birth is amazing. Sadly, things can go wrong and for some this day brings pain and sadness.
Sometimes the days we, and others,
expect to be diamonds don't work out that way. Life doesn't always go according to plan.
On the other hand, some days we don't anticipate being special turn out to be. It may not be that something amazing happens, it's just a
really nice day when things fall into place and go your way. People are smiling and helpful. Strangers say hello. You get a car park just where you want it or a bus comes along the moment you get to the stop. What's more, you get a seat.

The birds seem to be singing louder than usual. You notice more flowers than on a ho - hum day. Even if most of the blooms on that rose bush are past their best you find yourself focussing on a beautiful single rose bud. It smells lovely so you take a couple of deep breaths. Your attention is attracted to quirky signs and you see the humour or fun in the things around you.

Often when things start going our way and we are in a great mood, the rest of the day progresses smoothly. We find ourselves smiling and making positive comments to those around us. I love days like that. May many of
your days turn out to be diamonds.
