Not big on housework? Neither am I. But I'll tell you, blazing up the stereo with some great tunes is the way I find motivation to clean, and actually enjoy doing it!
Sometimes I like to play some old stuff. The likes of Frank Sinatra, Billy Holliday and Edith Piaf. This is is if I want to take my time. I feel like a 1950's house wife as I sweep the floors and do the dishes to this kind of music, and find joy in it, taking pride in all I do.
Usually I play 60's, 70's and 80's tunes to get me through cleaning. The Doors, Bob Dylan, Phil Collins, The Beatles, The Bangles, Beach Boys, Dire Straights, Neil Diamond, Icehouse, INXS, Daryl Braithwaite, you name it.
But if I really want to get the housework done in record time and feel good while doing it, I play the very atmospheric upbeat sounds of Spanish Mexican band The Gipsy Kings! It's like doing a workout or having a party and yet at the end of it the house is spotless rather than a mess.
Give it a try. I guarantee these tunes will change how you feel about wiping down benches and mopping the floors. Pump that stereo as you carry out those mundane chores.
