Some people choose to make some of the presents they give at Christmas time. Handmade presents can be very personal and some people really appreciate such a gift.

What are some of the reasons people choose to make presents?
The personal touch. Some people object to mass produced items and love to give something they have made with the receiver in mind rather than buying all their presents.
Each present can be tailor made for the receiver using colours and themes that have meaning and fit in with the taste and preference of the receiver.
Food presents can be made with any allergies or intolerances in mind.
Presents can be one of a kind.
To show you have really thought about it. Buying a number of presents all the same to give to family and friends may suggest you didn't give the matter much thought. (On the other hand it can avoid jealousy between the receivers if this tends to be a problem. It can also reduce stress for someone who has many people on their list or many responsibilities.)
Allows you to be creative
Making things is an enjoyable hobby for you
You may have perfected a technique but don't need any more appliqued hand towels. However, you have friends who would appreciate one as a gift.

Can save money. However handmade presents don't always save money. Sometimes they are expensive, especially if you have to buy items specifically or if the individual components/ingredients are costly. You also need to take your time into consideration.
Can recycle items such as jars, boxes, gift baskets, fabric scraps etc

The receiver is more likely to remember you gave them the gift if it is handmade.

There are many reasons for making presents to give at Christmas time but if you prefer to buy gifts or, on the other hand, choose not to do the wrapped present giving thing that is fine too.
