A few days ago, I went to my local cafe to have my usual skinny weak latte. While I was sitting drinking my latte, the owner came up to me and said,
"Ever since we have opened our cafe, you have come in here with your laptop. I wish you all the very best and I hope you succeed in whatever you are doing."
While drinking my coffee, I was doing my usual thing, writing. These words made my day. It was lovely for a stranger to notice what I was doing. It made me think, it does not take much to make someone’s day. Just a few words can make a difference to someone.
You don’t need to shower someone with gifts to make someone happy, it only takes a few words of kindness to do the job. It is the little things that count that really go a long way. Giving your time to people and/or complimenting them can make that little difference to someone’s self-esteem.
We live in a world where we witness jealousy, hatred and sadness all around us and we forget about being happy for others. There is a simple resolution to this. We need to take a step back and be kind to one another.
We all need to take a leaf out of this man’s book and really make the effort for others. You do not have to go up to every person you meet and give them a compliment, however, a few words of kindness here and there will go a long way. People will always remember this.
I completely agree with you. A smile from a stranger as he/she walks past or someone saying,'Good morning,' in a friendly voice lifts my spirits. If they say, 'Isn't it a lovely day!' that's even better. It is the little things (which have no monetary value) that count.
