A good friend of mine once told me that the best advice he had ever been given was from his uncle. And his uncle had said to him, " When making a decision, think to yourself, What would I do if I wasn't afraid?"

What amazing and yet simple advice, I thought. What would I do if I was not afraid? I'll tell you what I would do...

I'd apply for my dream job, regardless of whether or not I was qualified.

I would learn to surf

Get my hair cut in a barber shop, even though I'm a female, as I've always thought they looked like they were having fun in there and wished I could be a part of it.

I'd jump off that little cliff side and into the water at Wattamolla Bay, as so many others have had the courage to do.

Quit my job after writing a brilliant resignation letter telling my employers exactly what I thought of them.

Travel overseas by myself.

Stand up for myself.

Perform in front of people. Get into acting! Recite a poem at a poetry slam! Do stand up comedy!

Make peace with my past.
