How To Get Past A Bad Day

Everybody has their own bad days. All you want to do is crawl back under the blanket and ignore the rest of the world. But, believe it or not, it doesn't have to be this way.

Remember, it's not that bad

There are days when you feel like everything is going wrong. You know, the kind where you wake up late with a massive pimple on your chin; argue with your parents; spill your juice; miss the train or get caught in the rain. Annoying, yes, but at the end of the day, they don't have a serious impact on your life. The first step to getting over these days is to realise that they really aren't that bad.

Look to the bright side

Although it may feel that way, it's extremely unlikely that everything will be wrong. One of the skills we need to learn is to focus on what's actually happening, and not overreact. Look at what is going well in your life. As irritated as you might be, try to focus on the positives that have happened in your day. It could be something as simple as smelling a pretty flower, or bumping into crush whilst shopping.

Sphere of Positivity

It's one thing to focus on the positives, but it's even more powerful to actively create some. Even if bad things have happened, rather than letting the problems get you down; it's much more effective to look for solutions with a positive attitude. You should also look for ways to boost your mood. Create and listen to an instant happiness playlist of songs that make you smile, or chat to a friend who makes you laugh.
