No inventor ever invented anything without first deciding what its purpose would be.
In the same way no person is ever born without purpose. Everyone has a reason to live, to exist, and to influence those around them in some way.
I often find myself watching people as Iím walking, driving or shopping. I wonder what their day is like; how is their home life, or how are their relationships. Most importantly, I wonder if they are achieving their purpose. Are they fulfilling the thing they are most passionate about? Are they satisfied with where they are currently at in life?
One major weakness in our lives is that we quite often settle for mediocrity. We become reluctantly content with where we are, with what we have and with what we are doing. It becomes a daily routine, almost robotic in nature, and we give little to no thought of the things that we would actually like to achieve and accomplish. The very thought of having to make major career changes or lifestyle changes so we can fulfil our passions almost seems impossible. We are almost struck with a sense of guilt that we may be shirking our responsibilities to those around us, as well as to humanity in general if we dared step out and do something different.
Yet what you will often find is that the people that are most content or happy in life, are those that did exactly that. Itís not about living a frivolous carefree life void of any responsibility; itís about finding your passion, purpose, and turning it into a lifestyle.
Donít follow the path, create the path.
It wasnít until being driven to hospital in the ambulance two days ago with a heart condition, and Iím not even 40 yet, and as a result that clarity of purpose chose to reveal more of itself. There are always ideas, thoughts of things we would like to do, but sometimes we just need a little push.
So sit back and take a long look at where you are currently. Begin to identify the areas in your life that are time wasting or not needed. Begin to change the routine or habits that are the easiest to change. Set small goals first on your road to living in your purpose or passion. Talk with your partner about making the changes together. Start mapping out how the two of you really want to live. Itís an exciting prospect, and one that will change you forever.
