Everyone in the world needs help from time to time. Humans are social creatures Ė that is weíre not built to handle everything on our own. But many people are shy about asking for help, deliberately or not, we see it as a sign of weakness. Itís as if youíre unable to handle things on your own. You might be afraid that youíll be rejected or laughed at .But asking for help actually shows how strong you are. It takes a lot of guts to put yourself out there and let others in. But youíll find that when you do, youíll feel so much better.
Itís crucial to learn to ask for help. Itís way better to learn from otherís mistakes rather than committing those mistakes yourself or worse.
If you enjoy a healthy relationship with your parents and friends, theyíre usually the first people to go for help. Even if you think itís too embarrassing, or that you might get in trouble, remember they only want whatís best for you. Hopefully your relationship with Mum and Dad is one where you can openly ask them stuff. But if not, you can ask grandparents, teachers or other friends.
Even if you decide to go ahead and ask for help, it can be hard to know if youíre actually getting good advice or not. Usually when you ask for help, you are only doing so because you trust them so this is a good enough reason to believe in what they say. You can also recognise if itís good advice if the person giving it doesnít benefit from it. Then you know theyíre really looking out for you.
The advice you get from someone is a deposit of their wisdom into your mind -Thatís a great investment.
